What is Petoskey Stone, you ask?

A Petoskey Stone is a Tetracoral (also known as a Colony Coral or "Hexagonaria" to the scientific community).

In each hexagonal chamber is the prehistoric remains of a salt water marine life. This fossilized coral lived approximately 350 million years ago during the Devonian Age in the sea which used to cover Michigan!

The Petoskey Stone was adopted as the Official State Stone in 1965.

Never Let Go of Your Good Dreams with a Dream Catcher from Indian Hills Gallery

Never Let Go of Your Good Dreams with a Dream Catcher from Indian Hills Gallery

The legend of the Dream Catcher is one of the most beautiful of the Woodland Indian legends.

When hung near the sleepers head, it catches all the dreams during the night. The good dreams are filtered through the center hole and fall from the feather, landing lightly on the sleeper's head, whilst the bad dreams become entangled in the web only to be burned off at first daylight.

Indian Hills Gallery Features the Impressionist Works of JoAnne Bird

Indian Hills Gallery Features the Impressionist Works of JoAnne Bird

JoAnne Bird is a multi-talented artist with a passion for her artistic creations. A professional artist since 1968, her work has evolved to where her style is truly unique. Once a realist, she now considers herself an impressionist. Several years ago, she discovered her current style of painting that has earned her much success and popularity. Her paintings are created through a combination of controlled paint-throwing and the use of a palette knife.

JoAnne's paintings depict her Native American heritage - many spiritual in nature and dating back to early Native American history or legend. She feels her paintings bring out the old in a modern way.

You can purchase some of JoAnne's works at Indian Hills Gallery!
