A Community Ministry of Holy Childhood of Jesus Parish - New Beginnings Thrift & Resale
In 1987 the Thrift Shop moved into the basement of the Holy Childhood Boarding School. It was managed by the Sisters of the Franciscan Order and numerous volunteers. In 1992 the Thrift Shop was taken over by the Holy Childhood Day Care Center. At this time an employee was hired to run the Shop, as well as volunteers. It was closed in 2004.
Due to the high demand and requests from the community, the church took the thrift shop under its wing and added it as a new ministry. A "Thrift Shop Board" was appointed and a manager was hired. It was given a face lift and opened in March of 2005 as New Beginnings Thrift Shop.
With the vision of the church to have a parish hall, the school building was torn down. In March of 2007 New Beginnings Thrift Shop moved to our current location. Due to our wonderful success and support of our community, we needed to acquire more space at the new location. We now have 8000 sq. ft. full of treasures galore!
Due to the quality of donations from our community including several merchants we are now called New Beginnings Thrift & Resale. We are a non-profit organization. "New" racks are stuffed with clothing and shopping cartfuls are put out everyday - we stock every day!

There's a Little Bit of Everything at New Beginnings Thrift & Resale in Harbor Springs, MI
Clothing is tagged with colored tags and is rotated out of the store after 2-3 months. We have shelves full of shoes and accessories for any outfit.
Our book department is maintained by our wonderful "booklady" where they are categorized and put in alphabetical order. With hundreds of books, there is something to interest everyone!
We also carry cassette tapes, records, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes and more. We have a huge floral and craft department. We have an overstock of toys and sporting goods. Our linen department is stuffed! We have everything for your household. We even have antiques and vintage items in stock.
We also have a Sale Room where you can get a bag full of goodies for $1.88 (plus tax). Items are rotated out of the door by keeping dates on them. The Sale Room gives them one last chance!
We get many brand new items from local merchants and sell those items at a fraction of their regular retail price! Don't miss these incredible bargains!
